Artist-in-Residence Open Lab

O Laboratório tem com ponto de partida a análise de parte dos textos publicados no livro ‘Ensaios sobre Fotografia’. Investiga algumas questões inerentes
à fotografia, através da experiência do lugar, registanto as situações relacionais em fotografia digital e cianotipia. A residência desenvolve-se num formato
participativo, envolvendo na elaboração do trabalho os utilizadores do espaço, visitantes, colaboradores e hóspedes do hotel. Sendo proposto um exercício
de observação e selecção de objectos/situações representativos e significativos da experiência do lugar, os quais são registados fotográficamente. A partir
das relações estabelecidas são elaboradas pequenas narrativas que integram a legenda/descrição do processo de realização de cada imagem. Considerando
o ‘modelo’ como uma representação das escolhas com significado por parte de um grupo, e recorrendo à definição da geografia humanista, o resultado
obtido apresenta o lugar como uma forma de experiência humana.

The laboratory is based on a selection of texts collected in the book ‘Classic Essays on Photography’. It intends to approach some issues inherent
to photography, through the experience of the place, using cyanotype and digital process.
The residency is developed in a participatory format, involving in the elaboration of the work the users of the space, collaborators, hotel guests and other
visitors. It is proposed to observe the surrounding space and to select objects/situations representative and significatif of their experience of the place,
which will be photographed. Based on the created relation are elaborated small narratives that integrate the legend/description of the process of realization
of each image. Considering that the ‘model’ represents the choices with meaning of part of a group, and in accordance with the definition of the humanist
geography, the result obtained is the place as a form of human experience.
